Old Town University is preparing to offer additional Professional Development classes. These classes will enhance one's professional image. These classes can increase your status of current employment or make you more appealing to future employment. COMPUTERS FOR BEGINNERSThis series of classes is designed for first time computer users. You may be a senior hoping to improve your skills so that you can communicate electronically with your family or a middle-aged someone that missed computers in school and would like to improve your skills to increase your employment opportunities. All classes require your own personal laptop or netbook. If you have a desk top computer and would like to attend the class, you may do so with permission. Tutoring classes are by special arrangement only. Course fees for all computer classes are $15 per class/per person. Intro to Computers: Bring your laptop and get familiar with how to use the basic functions on your computer and how to access the Internet. Emailing I- Basics: This class covers the basics of emailing: how to set up an account, add contacts and how to send an email. You will learn how to attach documents and photos to your email. Proper emailing etiquette and terminology will also be covered. Learn the difference between email and spam and how to control spam in your mailbox. Emailing II- Advanced: Now it’s time to learn how to use folders and get your email organized! This course will cover some of the advanced features that are available on most email systems. Facebook, MySpace and Twitter: This class is designed to introduce you to the newest social networking internet pages. You can then decide if one of these, or all of these, is for you! Facebook for Beginners: Learn how to use Facebook on a daily basis to stay in touch with family and friends. Techniques for uploading pictures and videos will be demonstrated. Intro to Microsoft Office: A basic introduction to Word, Excel and Power Point. Learn what each of these programs can do for you! Advanced Microsoft Word: This class will demonstrate how Word can be much more than a word processing program! Give it a try and see what Microsoft Word can do for you. Advanced Microsoft Excel: Explore the many uses for Excel and experience the functions it can perform. |
