Interior Design Classes Print E-mail

Earn a certificate when you complete all of the interior design classes and successfully meet all the requirements.  To earn a certificate we suggest taking classes in the order listed below. Classes are scheduled through out the year.


Classes may also be taken for enrichment purposes without receiving the certificate

  • Intro to Interior Design:  This class is designed to introduce you to the basic concepts of interior design, and offers tips you can start using in your own home!
  • Using Colors in Interiors:  Color can be a powerful tool for increasing or decreasing the size of a room by opening the room up or closing it in.  This class will review the use of color to draw attention to the assets of a room based on its intended use.  It will also touch on responses to colors at a physiological level.
  • Textiles in Interiors:  Learn how to use textiles within an area to warm the space or provide eye appealing accents.  Determine if a textile is appropriate for various interior applications will hold up in a certain use within an interior.
  • Spatial Analysis:  Learn how to analyze the space within a room to provide the best furniture layout.  It is amazing how your furniture can increase the size of your room, if placed correctly.
  • Furniture Selection:  This class will teach you how to select furniture based on a room layout, use and budget.  Furniture selection can also determine how the room will function or if the room may be multi-functional.
  • Kitchen Design:  Learn the basic kitchen layout as well as the triangle workspace concepts.  Understand how materials can define your space.  Apply kitchen layouts to spaces and develop a kitchen that will meet your needs as functional space.
  • Bathroom Design:  Explore the endless possibilities for a bathroom remodel, the most functional and personal space in the home! We will review and analyze material and color options. Usage of space and fixture layout will also be discussed.
  • Work the Project:  This class is designed to focus on an area of the student's choice for their project.  They will create an inspiration board, generate the sequence of steps for the project, establish a realistic timeline for it, determine products to be used based on value and budget and create a realistic cost estimate for the project.
