University
A university (Latin: universitas, "a whole") is an institution of higher (or tertiary) education and research which grants academic degrees in various subjects and typically provides undergraduate education and postgraduate education. The word "university" is derived from the Latin universitas magistrorum et scholarium, which roughly means "community of teachers and scholars."
History
Definition
The original Latin word "universitas" refers in general to "a number of persons associated into one body, a society, company, community, guild, corporation, etc." At the time of the emergence of urban town life and medieval guilds, specialised "associations of students and teachers with collective legal rights usually guaranteed by charters issued by princes, prelates, or the towns in which they were located" came to be denominated by this general term. Like other guilds, they were self-regulating and determined the qualifications of their members.
In modern usage the word has come to mean "An institution of higher education offering tuition in mainly non-vocational subjects and typically having the power to confer degrees," with the earlier emphasis on its corporate organization considered as applying historically to Medieval universities.

University LRT Station
University Station is an LRT station on the Capital Line in Edmonton, Alberta. It is an underground station located beneath 112 Street at 89 Avenue on the University of Alberta campus.
University Station is the busiest LRT station in Edmonton, serving an average of 29,470 passengers per weekday.
History
University Station was opened August 23, 1992 and was the first LRT Station located on the south side of the North Saskatchewan River. It is connected to Grandin (Government Centre) Station by the Dudley B. Menzies Bridge, a dedicated LRT bridge (with a lower level for pedestrians and cyclists). With the exception of the bridge and its approaches, the LRT line between Grandin Station and University Station runs through underground tunnels.
University Station was the southern terminus of the LRT line prior to the opening of the Health Sciences Station on January 3, 2006.
Station layout
The station has a 123 metre long centre loading platform that can accommodate two five-car LRT trains at the same time, with one train on each side of the platform. The platform is just over eight metres wide. Access to the platform is from a concourse level by stairs and escalators located at each end of the platform. There is also an elevator at the north end of the platform. The concourse level provides access to the surface and to the university's Housing Union Building (HUB). It is the deepest station on the line, at a depth of 23 metres below the surface.

Last Two Survivors In Valencia - Old University And Old Town - A city with no people
Today is Sunday May 9th (Mother Day in the USA and Germany) so it's a bit rough today, so we decided to take another walk outside to distract us from missing family. This is the fourth time we've been outside since all this parallel world thing happened on April 28th, when we woke up finding ourselves in the deserted city of Valencia. We focused this time more on Valencia Old Town and we were hoping to find trace of anyone else who's around. Nobody - again no other soul. I came to Portugal for a Staff Exchange from my own university where I work to attend a conference.
Lisbon is recognised as an alpha-level global city because of its importance in finance, commerce, fashion, media, entertainment, arts, international trade, education and tourism. Lisbon is one of two Portuguese cities (alongside Porto) to be recognised as a global city.
I also went to Porto for a few days with a friend, but more on that later....
I loved visiting NOVA for a few days and I'm super grateful I had this chance to attend workshops and talks.
NOVA University Lisbon (Universidade NOVA de Lisboa) is a Portuguese public university whose rectorate is located in Campolide, Lisbon. Founded in 1973, it is the newest of the public universities in the Portuguese capital city, earning its name as the "New" (NOVA) University of Lisbon.
The institution has more than 20,000 students, 1,800 professors and staff members distributed through five faculties, three institutes and one school, providing a variety of courses in several fields of knowledge.

Today is Sunday May 9th (Mother Day in the USA and Germany) so it's a bit rough today, so we decided to take another walk outside to distract us from missing fa...
Today is Sunday May 9th (Mother Day in the USA and Germany) so it's a bit rough today, so we decided to take another walk outside to distract us from missing family. This is the fourth time we've been outside since all this parallel world thing happened on April 28th, when we woke up finding ourselves in the deserted city of Valencia.
We focused this time more on Valencia Old Town and we were hoping to find trace of anyone else who's around. Nobody - again no other soul. We then thought we should maybe check out the La Nau, Valencia's Old University - since there are always people walking through the corridors of the university. Even then, we didn't encounter anyone - the creepy thing there, the lights turned on magically. That really freaked us out for a second.
Some commenters asked us not so background audio, towards the end of the video you can hear the original sound of bells striking and nothing else! CREEPY!
We soon had enough and sprinted home, shut and locked our door! Here we feel safe!!!!

This talk describes the fascinating and important early town of Çatalhöyük in central Turkey. The site is important because of its large size and elaborate symbolism, including wall art and burials beneath the floors of houses. The speaker has been excavating at the site for 25 years using the latest scientific techniques. A very large team has been piecing together the detailed evidence of the site in order to understand how the society was organized, how it lasted so long, and what its rich symbolism means.

Today is Sunday May 9th (Mother Day in the USA and Germany) so it's a bit rough today, so we decided to take another walk outside to distract us from missing family. This is the fourth time we've been outside since all this parallel world thing happened on April 28th, when we woke up finding ourselves in the deserted city of Valencia.
We focused this time more on Valencia Old Town and we were hoping to find trace of anyone else who's around. Nobody - again no other soul. We then thought we should maybe check out the La Nau, Valencia's Old University - since there are always people walking through the corridors of the university. Even then, we didn't encounter anyone - the creepy thing there, the lights turned on magically. That really freaked us out for a second.
Some commenters asked us not so background audio, towards the end of the video you can hear the original sound of bells striking and nothing else! CREEPY!
We soon had enough and sprinted home, shut and locked our door! Here we feel safe!!!!

A university (Latin: universitas, "a whole") is an institution of higher (or tertiary) education and research which grants academic degrees in various subjects and typically provides undergraduate education and postgraduate education. Definition
The original Latin word "universitas" refers in general to "a number of persons associated into one body, a society, company, community, guild, corporation, etc." At the time of the emergence of urban town life and medieval guilds, specialised "associations of students and teachers with collective legal rights usually guaranteed by charters issued by princes, prelates, or the towns in which they were located" came to be denominated by this general term. Like other guilds, they were self-regulating and determined the qualifications of their members.
In modern usage the word has come to mean "An institution of higher education offering tuition in mainly non-vocational subjects and typically having the power to confer degrees," with the earlier emphasis on its corporate organization considered as applying historically to Medieval universities.
